Sakura walk in Hakone-Yumoto

In Hakone, you can enjoy them from late March to late April.
Although the peak bloom lasts for only about two weeks, the beauty of the blossoms in full bloom — and the fleeting elegance as they fall — have long been loved by many people.
Here are some recommended spots around the hotel where you can enjoy the cherry blossoms.

Best places to see cherry blossoms

By the river in front of the hotel

In late February, the early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms begin to color the banks of the Hayakawa River, which flows in front of the hotel.
Their deep pink hues announce the arrival of spring in Hakone.

From the foyer of the hotel

In late March, the slope leading to the hotel is beautifully adorned with pale pink cherry blossoms.

The best place to view these blossoms up close is the foyer on the second floor of the Rainbow Plaza.
From this glass-walled foyer, you can enjoy a close-up view of the cherry branches and blossoms.
Please experience this new style of hanami—cherry blossom viewing—from the comfort of indoors.

Enjoying cherry blossoms with the charm of old Japan and its historic temples

About a 10-minute walk from the hotel, Sōunji Temple offers a beautiful display of various cherry blossoms, including weeping cherry trees and Somei Yoshino.

Enjoy an evening walk around the hotel

Night Hanami is also our recommendation.
The atmosphere transforms from the lively beauty of daytime to the graceful elegance of cherry blossoms illuminated at night. Please enjoy the enchanting sight of the night sakura.

Recommended Cherry Blossom Spot – Odawara Castle (Just 20 minutes by train from the hotel!)

About a 10-minute walk from Odawara Station, you’ll find Odawara Castle.
From late March to early April, the castle becomes one of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in the area.
The castle’s white walls are beautifully complemented by the soft pink hues of the blossoms.
