Report by hotel staff

On a refreshing, clear autumn day in October, the hotel staff joined a one-day trip.

7:45 AM – The group gathered at Yumoto Fujiya Hotel, met with the guide, and boarded a large bus.
The bus traveled through various scenic points around Hakone and headed toward Mt. Fuji.

9:30 AM – The first viewpoint was Otome Pass.
This pass connects over the mountains of Hakone to the neighboring city of Gotemba.
Although Mt. Fuji was still quite a distance away, it could already be seen from the bus window, heightening our excitement as they drew closer.

10:00 AM – Break at “Michi-no-Eki Subashiri”

In Japan, there are many roadside rest areas called Michi-no-Eki located along major highways.
These places are not only for taking a break, but also for enjoying the local charm — they sell regional vegetables and specialty products unique to each area.
At Michi-no-Eki Subashiri, you can even taste the famous spring water from Mt. Fuji.

10:30 AM – Moving to the Next Viewpoint

At the previous Michi-no-Eki, Mt. Fuji had been completely covered by clouds, and we began to wonder if we would be unable to see it for the rest of the day.
However, after passing through a long tunnel, there it was — the magnificent Mt. Fuji, free from clouds!
For those who want to fully enjoy the view from the bus, we recommend sitting on the left-hand side.

10:45 AM – FUJIYAMA Tower

Located inside Fuji-Q Highland, the FUJIYAMA Tower observatory stands 55 meters tall (180 ft).
Although the observatory officially opens at 11:00 AM, participants of this tour are granted exclusive early access 15 minutes before opening!
This private viewing time allows plenty of opportunity to take photos at a relaxed pace.
From the deck, you can enjoy an unobstructed panoramic view of Mt. Fuji and its magnificent foothills spreading out before you.

12:00 PM – Final Viewpoint: Oishi Park by Lake Kawaguchi

There are five large lakes surrounding Mt. Fuji, and among them, Lake Kawaguchi is the second largest.
At Oishi Park, visitors can admire seasonal flowers while enjoying the breathtaking natural beauty of the clear lake and Mt. Fuji in the background.
After spending a relaxing lunch time with a view of Mt. Fuji, the tour heads back to Hakone.

After the Journey

From Hakone, Mt. Fuji can only be seen from limited areas such as Ōwakudani and parts of Lake Ashi. Also, you can only see near the top of Mt. Fuji and not enough to feel the graundeur.
Besides, on this tour, you can feel the excitement of gradually getting closer to Mt. Fuji and enjoy its beauty from various angles.
The guide’s fascinating stories and trivia about Hakone and Mt. Fuji made the trip even more enjoyable — it was a truly satisfying tour experience.
